Welcome to The Village

Please read the following, carefully. It tells you what The Village is, how the community works, what you can expect to find within The Village, and what the community expects of its members.

The Village is a different kind of online community. In The Village, you'll meet real people using their real names. Villagers may create alias identities and use these aliases to participate in some of the activities within the community, but all aliases will be identifiable as belonging to a Villager's primary identity, so that there is less likelihood of the mischief and misrepresentation that occurs elsewhere online, which can be so hurtful and damaging.

Guest membership of The Village community is completely free but as in real life, full membership of the community is not. Every community has expenses and community members are asked to make a small contribution towards the maintainence of the community resources. However, whilst full membership is not free, neither does it have to be expensive. All subscribing members have all the community resources at their disposal, and membership subscription costs as little as $1.60 per week. The Village Bank is installing a Bureau de Change, which should be able to conduct transactions in both directions between real-world currencies and The Village Oak, which is the currency that will be used in transactions between community members, within the community environs.
