What The Village Is

The Village is conceived to become and to be a community, in the real if ecological sense of the word: a group of interdependent people inhabiting the same region.

It is about people from all around the material world coming together in one place to share their thoughts, concerns, knowledge, wisdom, talents and experiences, for the benefit of all their fellows.

It is about increasing the understanding between peoples of often vastly different cultural perspectives and backgrounds, with the aim of emphasising their common heritage of humanity, whilst rejoicing and sharing in the rich treasure of diversity.

It is about getting to know the people behind the names and labels that dog modern life, in the hope that by breaking down the barriers between peoples, all members of the community arrive at a greater understanding of another's identity, perspective and cultural heritage.

It is about transforming the heat we so often encounter in human interactions, to the Light which this planet of ours so desperately needs in these dark days.

The Village Council does not pretend to have the answer to the problems that beset our world, but they do have hopes that by fostering a greater sense of the common heritage of mankind in a small community corner, some good might result.

What The Village Is Not

The Village is NOT a community focussed upon role-play in any of its forms. There is a provision within The Village for those who are familiar with that avenue of interaction and who might wish to indulge in it, but of the dozens of buildings within the community, role-play occupies only one corner of one building.

It is NOT a community wherein one may hide or mask one's identity and/or gender behind a string of pseudonyms. Whilst members of the community are allowed to create aliases with which to interact in the many and various venues, any and all aliases that Villagers might create are openly identified as belonging to the primary identity of the Villager.

It is NOT a community wherein the young are exposed to materials that are inappropriate to their status. Neither is it a community wherein the young are exposed or allowed to remain vulnerable to the kind of abuse that sadly, we read and hear about almost daily. Parental controls exist to allow the parents or guardians of minors to select the content to which they wish to allow their children to be exposed. There is a clearly defined rating system, which enables parents to take proper responsibility, and the Village Council encourages them to do so.

What The Village Will Become

The Village will become whatever the members of the community wish it to become, within the bounds of practicality.

The Village Council is the body which presides over the direction in which The Village evolves, and which guards the principles underpinning its conception, but the Village Council is an elected body and elections will be held at specific intervals. Every Villager has an equal voice in deciding the path that the community follows, and any member of the community may stand for election to the Council.
